My Top 3 Favorite Foundations for Asian Skin Tones
With different skin types and undertones, foundations are definitely not a one-size-fits-all type of ordeal. For me especially, it's been hard to find a formula with the right undertone or one that doesn't oxidize after it was just the perfect match when I put it on. Shades I've tried were either a little too light or a little too dark - I even found myself having to buy two different shades of foundation then being a chemist every time I needed to put on makeup - and trying to mix the perfect amounts together to get my current shade. *sighs* It's exhausting...
Here are my 3 favorite foundations as an Asian myself (half-Thai, half-Chinese):
NARS | Sheer Glow Foundation Soft Matte Foundation
Both of these foundations are *chef kiss* and my two go-to's that I'm always grabbing when I'm getting ready.
Sheer Glow - If you're looking to glow from within, this will do the trick! It gives really good coverage, yet sheer enough to not look heavy on the skin. It's available in 40 true-to-skin colors which makes it even easier to find the perfect shade just for you.
Soft Matte - Definitely more of a full-coverage look and feel, this one is water-based however. More intriguing those with oily skin since it leaves a matte finish and contains mico-algae and bio hyaluronic acid to absorb excess sebum. One thing I do love about this brand is their exceptional shade range.
DIOR | Backstage Face Body Foundation
Another fan favorite of mine. Let's just say it's in the rotation with the NARS picks... What I love about this choice is how it's waterproof, sweat-resistant and buildable. Just like NARS, they have an incredible shade range addressing undertones in Asian skin! Win-win.
RARE BEAUTY | Liquid Touch Weightless Foundation
I mean, no matter who's side you're on. Cough cough, make sure it's Selena, you've got to give this foundation a try. This weightless formula makes it easy to build coverage even though the formula is basically a serum-feel. It contains all the good stuff to calm your skin (i.e. lotus, gardenia, water lily, etc.)!
