How You Can Incorporate CBD In Your Daily Routine
BROWN GIRL JANE is Helping Black Women Upgrade Their Wellness & Beauty Routines W/ CBD Products
Over the last couple of years, Cannabidiol or “CBD” has become a popular ingredient in the health and wellness communities. Now, we’re seeing the ingredient in everything from gummies, skincare, haircare, oils and more. But, what is CBD, and what are the benefits? Cannabidiol (CBD) is one of the naturally occurring cannabinoids found in cannabis plants or “marijuana”.
Research shows, although CBD is a component of medical marijuana, it is derived directly from the hemp plant, or manufactured in a laboratory, and it does not cause a "high" by itself. According to the World Health Organization, "In humans, CBD exhibits no effects indicative of any abuse or dependence potential…. To date, there is no evidence of public health related problems associated with the use of pure CBD."
So, now that we know some of the science behind CBD, why should we include it in our beauty routines? We sat down with Tai Beauchamp, the co-founder of BROWN GIRL JANE- a plant-based beauty and wellness brand that incorporates CBD in some of their products.
The CEO of BROWN GIRL JANE, Malaika Jones started developing the company after suffering from spinal cord injuries after giving birth to her youngest daughter, and trying to figure out a way to heal her body without pharmaceuticals. After learning about the benefits of CBD, Jones started the early formulations of their rest daily drops.
“I think we live in a culture where it's so easy to figure out what the quick fix is. And the quick fix is usually over the counter. The quick fix also usually has some ramifications and repercussions on our body that we're not aware of. And the truth of the matter is black and brown people and indigenous people. We've always relied on the earth and the land for our healing, for our wellness.” said Beauchamp.
From there stemmed their body, and skincare products, as well as their wellness supplements.
